Wife of the Imo State governor, Mrs. Nkechi Rochas Okorocha will run for the Imo West Senatorial seat come 2019.

This was even as her husband, Owelle Rochas Okorocha told journalists recently that there was every 70 percent chance that he was not going to run for senatorial election in 2019 and that his wife would be the most appropriate person to succeed him as the governor of Imo State if it would be possible because of her milk of human kindness.

Senator Hope Uzodinma of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the current member representing Imo West Senatorial zone in the senate.

However, sources close to the governor’s wife told 247ureports.com that she has started consultation already with major stakeholders while her political machinery is on full alert and has started work already.

Mrs. Okorocha will contest on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Although there has not been official confirmation of her ambition from her, some of her close associates told247ureports.com that there is no going back on the senatorial ambition of the Imo governor’s wife.

Already, her body language and those close to her indicate that a struggle for the coveted senate seat is being nursed by the First Lady surreptitiously.

Investigation by 247ureports.com revealed that the action, body language and utterances of Governor Okorocha and his wife are enough to show seriousness.

“It is true. She had made up her mind to run and we will fully support her because she possesses the needed qualities and experience to represent Orlu Zone in the senate. As you can see already, Madam has fashioned her life after Hilary Clinton of the United States of America. You will recall that Mrs. Clinton was in the senate and that helped her party and husband a lot. So, as Owelle is nursing the ambition to be the first Igbo man to be Nigeria’s executive president in 2019, it is only right that his wife gets more  political experience to that effect, ” a prominent politician from Orlu Zone told 247ureports.com.

He added “Again, when Owelle said there were 70 percent chances that he will not go to the senate, he actually meant that he will half be in the senate. So, use your tongue to count your teeth as they say”.

Another source who is an appointee of the Okorocha government told 247ureports.com that “Madam is the best candidate available for the position. She remains the most valuable member of our great party, APC, in Orlu Zone, having achieved so much in terms of human empowerment. You know her story. She has received many valuable awards from even the journalists for providing houses for the homeless and that she values more than any other award.

“I stand to be corrected that none of the array of senators from Orlu Zone and aspirants that we have has her kind of pedigree. Do you think she will stop providing homes for the poor? No, it has become part of her. So, apart from political considerations, senatorial platform will enable madam build more houses for the poor”, the source said.
