The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has expressed worries over the well-being of Nigerians living in South Africa following renewed hostility against them by their hosts.

The highest umbrella body of students in Nigerian also carpeted the South African government over the lackadaisical attitude of the country’s President Jacob Zuma was going about the frequent hostility against Nigerians.

While appealing to Nigerians living in South Africa to remain calm, the group warned President Zuma to stop playing politics with the lives innocent Nigerians with immediate effect

The apex body of the students called on Nigerians in Diaspora particularly those living in South Africa to be law abiding, to remain vigilant and remember to protect themselves against the failed South African state.

The body led by its Coordinator from Zone B, Comrade Pedro Obi made the call Thursday in a press conference in Asaba, condemning Xenophobic Killing in its entirety.

According to NANS, if not for the intervention of Delta state governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, we had prepared to close down all businesses with South Africa interest in the region in response to the xenophobic attack.

“We allowed reasoning to prevail after the intervention of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state and security agencies, knowing well that most of the businesses have Nigerian interests and cannot put more Nigerian into untold hardship”.

The body also frowned at the snail pace handling of the xenophobic attack by Nigerian, demanding a swift response from the government to end the killings.
