Factional chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in Abia State, Barr.Prince Ukaegbu has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to probe the member representing Aba North/ Aba South federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ossy Prestige over alleged forgery and perjury.

In a petition entitled, ‘Conspiracy, Perjury and Forgery by Hon. Ossy Prestige of the House of Representatives and Accomplices; Request to order investigation and Prosecution of culprits’, signed by his lawyer, Ukpai Ukairo, the APGA chieftain alleged that the lawmaker lost the PDP primaries for the federal constituency and connived with highly placed officials of APGA to manipulate his name into the INEC list of nominated candidates while he (Ukaegbu) was campaigning for the election.

Ukaegbu stated that he remains the duly nominated APGA candidate for Aba North/Aba South federal constituency in the House of Representatives for the 2015 election and ought to have been declared and sworn in as a lawmaker representing the constituency.

According to the petition, “Hon. Ossy Prestige is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, where he contested the party’s primary for nomination for the election into the House of Representatives, Aba North/Aba South, and lost. This is evident in the letter written by his party, the PDP, dated January 26, confirming that he is their member who contested and lost the primaries.

“Hon. Ossy Prestige connived with highly placed officials of APGA to manipulate his name into the INEC list of nominated party candidates. He serially lied under oath and perjured himself claiming that the APGA primary election took place on the 4th day of December, 2014. To sustain this lie under oath, he resorted to forgery and awarding himself of what he claimed to be a certificate of return to validate his fraud. Ossy Prestige claimed that APGA House of Rep primaries held on 4th December, 2014, but this is untrue. No primary election of APGA for the federal constituency held on the 4th day of December, 2014 in Abia state .Rather, APGA primary election in Abia state for the House of Reps was held on 10th day of December, 2014. Hon. Ossy Prestige has never been a member of APGA and cannot claim to have been validly nominated by the party to contest election into the House of Representatives.”

The petition urged the IGP to use his good offices to initiate a thorough investigation into the alleged offences and prosecute the lawmaker if found culpable.
