The Enugu police command said it has arrested six suspected armed robbery gang that have being terrorizing of the lives of the innocent citizens of Opanda, Nimbo and Adani Axis of Uzouwani local Government Area of Enugu state and its environs.
Contained in statement the command issued through the state public relations officer, PPRO, Ebere Amaraizu Monday, said the suspects: Ernest Umeh, Okwudili Ugwuoke, Sunday Agbo, Arinze Agu, Ezeata Ugochukwu, Arinze Agu and Nnamdi Ojobo were arrested in the early hours of 9/9/16 through by it operatives at Adani division in partnership with members of the public who provided relevant information.
The suspects who Sp Amaraizu said are helping the police in their investigations in relation to their alleged nefarious activities ranging from Armed Robbery, burglary amongst others were said to be taking off guard by the operatives at suspects various locations following a tip off from members of the public.
According to PPRO, manhunt on the remaining gang members has been intensified. Items recovered from the suspects includes; cut to size locally made gun, two short axes and some exhibits like TV Set, DVD, six handsets suspected to have robbed from their various victims, standing fan amongst others.
“The leader of the gang Ernest Umeh in his reaction regretted every bit of their action and blamed the entire situation to act of Satan and promised not to follow the evil ways if he is left off the hook.
“The state commissioner of police Emmanuel Ojukwu has applauded the effort of his men and the synergy between his operatives and members of the community and maintained that the command under his watch will continue to partner communities, sister security Agencies and all relevant stake holders to ensure a safe and secured environment”, said SP Amaraizu.
