Wheel Barrow Union Writes IGP over Police Victimizaition

The leadership crisis presently rocking Anambra `State Wheel Barrow Owners and Pushers Association(ANBOPA) has taken new dimension as the union has though the counsel,  Barrister Hipo.C. Onwuegbuke cried to the listening ears of  the Inspector General of Police (IGP) over what they tagged victimisation from the office of O/c Monitoring Unit,  Zone 9, Umuahia.

In a petition titiled: Case of Stealing,  Malicious Damage,  Assault, Impersonation And Acts Likely To Cause Breach of Peace,  the union noted with dismay that the President of the Union, Mr. Nicolas Orogwu, the Vice President,  Mr. Alphonsus Ofomba and the Treasurer of the union were victimised by the police team from Zone 9, led by one Inspector Innocent through the directive of the O/c Monitoring Unit.

Alleging that the Zone 9 policemen were well paid by their opposition to deal with their persons, the leadership of the union said they were arrested and whisked from Onitsha-Umuahia in the back of an open pick up van even under heavy down pure, with the aim of making sure they die on the

On noticing that Mr. Orogwu and two of his executive members were picked by the alleged paid policemen to Umuahia, Abia State on the mere allegation of ‘Conspiracy,  Threat to Life And Unlawful Seizure, according to sources,  one Arinze Igwe,  Ikechukwu Eze and Innocent Ogbonna
are accused to have employed the services of some hoodlums who claimed to be MASSOB members to cause mayhem by allegedly assaulting one Vincent Nwafor and the office clerk of the union,  Miss  Ebele Ebu.

It was also gathered that while the police arrested and whisked away the three men the police that are shouldered to secure lives and property allegefly supervised the engagment of the service’s of a cripple (known as Oromankrisi)  who allegedly  planted concoctions suspected to be charms in the office of the union.

Apart from vandalising the the office by Mr. Arinze Igwe (Aribest) led faction,  one Vincent Nwafor was allegedly robbed of Fifty-two Thousand Naira by the faction in the office, using one Emeka Ojukwu as their gunman.

Also robbed, according to the members of the union was the lady clerk, Miss. Ebele Ebu as she was equally dealt with, her hand bag was allegedly destroyed and N35, 000. 00 together with other valuables were said to were snatched from her by the said suspects, Emeka Ojukwu and his cohorts.
