The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress APC has waded into the crisis of confidence rocking its chapter in Ondo state and has consequently summoned all parties to the dispute for an emergency meeting.
Deputy National Secretary of the party, Oji Ngofa stated this while speaking with journalists at the national secretariat of the party on Wednesday.
According to him, the leadership of the party has not endorsed any aspirant for its forthcoming gubernatorial primary election in the state, adding that a meeting called to resolve the dispute would hold on Saturday.
“Our members should remain resolute and have confidence in us. The state is not responsible for the primaries but we at the national level. The party is aware of the peculiar situation in Ondo. Even the person they accused of endorsing an aspirant has denied it.
On the purported impeachment of the state chairman of the party, Isaacs Kekemeke, the party said it was not aware of any change of baton.
“As far as we are concerned, we are not aware of any chairman that was sacked, it is just a misunderstanding of the processes of the primaries and that is why we have invited them to Abuja on Saturday to talk to them”, Ngofa added.
Ahead of the August 27 primaries of the APC in Ondo state, the state chapter of the party had been engulfed in crisis, with some aspirants accusing a national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of surreptitiously imposing one of the aspirants on the party.
The aggrieved group had consequently staged a protest and announced the impeachment of Mr Kekemeke, a development that saw the police sealing the party secretariat on Tuesday.
