APC Will Desperately Win Edo Guber Poll, Oyegun Boasts

The national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief John Odiege-Oyegun, has said that the thought of losing the forthcoming governorship election in Edo state should never arise, adding that the party will not only capture the state but with a resounding victory.

Oyegun said this Tuesday in Abuja while presenting the certificate of return to Godwin Obaseki as the party’s flagbearer.

The electoral empire has scheduled the governorship election for September 10, this year.

The APC national chairman, who said the party has no choice than to adopt Obaseki as its candidate after the appeal committee cleared him, also called on all other aspirants to join hands together with the candidate to ensure victory.

“We want to hope that you will work in unity in Edo state APC because we cannot in a sense afford to loss Edo state, that thought must never arise, we have to win in Edo state because it is significant to many national politics, not even it is no longer a local politics.

“It is very significant for a lot of national direction at the APC not only in Edo state. So I want you to take it and have it clearly in your mind that totality of the party is 100% behind your candidature as governor of Edo state.

“We will swing into action now we have to set up a Campaign Council Committee to includes governors at national level. You can go on now with your campaign, but we are going to have a truly national event in Edo state, which would bring virtually all the totality of the leadership of the party to Edo state to underscore the fact that this is an election we intend to win.

“We are not going to capture, there is nothing to capture, we are going to ensure there is a very resounding win, we will retain control of Edo state,” Oyegun said.

Responding, the APC candidate, Godwin Obaseki, while thanking the Oyegun led NWC for the confidence in him, also expressed confidence that APC will win the poll.

He also revealed that he has been able to secured support of 10 out of 11 aspirants who contested primary election with him, assuring that consultation was still on to get the remaining one aspirant to his side.
