Kano State Government is dismayed by the rumour being circulated in the social media alleging that the Commander General of the state Hisbah Board, Malam Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, has advised it against payment of compensation to the family of the murdered female trader, Bridget Agbahime and that he has been removed from his position.

The story  is mere speculation, baseless, unfounded, false and mischievous aimed at causing disaffection and unnecessary tension between Muslim and Christian communities in the state.

To keep the record straight, the issue of compensation was never discussed or brought up by anyone when the state government convened a meeting with CAN and Igbo community  leadership, the Ulamas and family of the victim the very day the sad event took place.

As the case is currently being handled by a competent court of law in the state, government would not do anything that will  jeopardize the course of law or tantamount to injustice to the victim and her family.

Even if the issue of  payment of any compensation may come up in the course of the case, the state government must undertake  a very wide consultation to ensure that it is within the provision of the law.

Meanwhile, Malam Aminu Daurawa remains the Commander General of the state Hisbah Board and the government has never at any point in time contemplate dropping or redeploying him as rumored.

The general public is therefore advised to desist from circulating rumour and unfounded speculations capable of causing chaos and tension in our dear state.
