The Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Peter Mrakpor says the interest of the people remains paramount to Government as the Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration will continue to pursue, promote and protect the interest of the people in all its policies and programmes.
Barr. Mrakpor stated this on Monday when the Executive Members of the Community Development Board of Oil Mining Lease 30 (OML 30), comprising of over 111 Communities that cut across Isoko, Urhobo, Ijaw and Itsekiri ethnic nationalities, led by its Chairman, Morris Idiowa paid him a courtesy visit his Chambers.
The Justice Commissioner, who emphasized the need for Oil Companies operating in the State to maintain cordial working relationship with their host communities, says such cordial working relationship will be beneficial to their operations and to the State. He maintained that Government will ensure that host Communities continue to enjoy the presence of Oil Companies in their domain.
On the internal leadership issues affecting the CDB, that is already a subject of litigation, the Justice Commissioner reiterated the State Government position not to take side or cover any act of wrong doing by either of the parties even as he posited that if any individual has not performed well in the past, the necessary steps should be taken to remedy such wrongful act.
While congratulating the Morris Idiowa Leadership of the OML 30 Community Development Board, the Attorney-General charged them to be accountable and work assiduously towards making tangible impact in the lives of their people.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Community Development Board of OML 30, Morris Idiowa accompanied by other Executive Members including the President General of Isoko Development Union, High Chief Iduh Amadhe, informed the Attorney-General that his Exco will maximize the opportunity given to them to safeguard Government interest and critical national assets in their respective communities. He said, already, the CDB under his leadership has implemented terms of GMOU that has benefited over 90 Communities within OML 30.
High Chief Iduh Amadhe who gave the vote of thanks, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the meeting that was later held indoors and assured the State Government that the current Leadership  of the Board will not only be transparent and accountable but will ensure the fast development of host communities through funds provided by the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company.
