Piqued by the senseless killing of pro Biafra activists who were celebrating the 49th anniversary of the struggle for the actualization of an independent state of Biafra, Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, has warned the Nigerian Army to halt its onslaught on defenceless protesters or face its wrath.

OYC warned that the Army would cause a second civil war in Nigeria f it continues with its so called rules of engagement with which it hides under to cause bloodbath in Igbo land.

In a statement signed by Comrade Obinna Achuonye and Mazi Alex Okemini, National Vice President and Chairman of all State Chairmen, respectively, the group lamented that the Nigerian Army is fast becoming an ethnic one where professional duties are being executed with tribal mindset, leading to soldiers turning their guns against Igbo protesters at every opportunity.

“Ohanaeze Youth Council warns that the Nigerian Army has obviously crossed the boundary by its serial killing of unarmed pro Biafran protesters in the East. How can soldiers enter a church and mow down worshipers even if they are celebrating Biafra. How can they desecrate the House of God? Are we at war? Do they want to provoke another civil war? Is Nigerian Army now an ethnic Army? Let Nigerians be told that what we now have is Hausa- Fulani Army and not Nigerian Army so they would know how to protect themselves.

“These criminal killings would no longer be tolerated. The Nigerian Army is making itself a candidate for trial at the International criminal court at the Hague for its crime against humanity. President Muhammadu Buhari must call the Army to order or Ndigbo will be forced to defend themselves. In this, the ragtag Nigerian Army knows that it stands no chance. Enough is enough.”

“When we say that the Nigerian Army is gradually turning to an Hausa/Fulani Army, the Awgu incident in which the Army responded to an alarm by armed Fulani herdsmen and abducted 76 innocent villagers who protested the abduction of their women and locked them up at Umuahia Prisons in Abia state because a Fulani herdsmen invited them, is a glaring example.

“With the posture of the Nigerian Army, Nigeria is gradually inching towards anarchy and even civil war unless something is done urgently.”

The group added that Ndigbo has sacrificed numerous lives to keep Nigeria going and cannot afford to continue doing so. “We warn that if we are pushed to the wall again, this country will never be the same again.”
