The former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has distanced himself from a recent malicious online report alleging that the former governor purchased a real estate property belonging to the State Delta by the name ‘Guinea House’ located in Apapa [No 27 Marine Road, Apapa], Lagos State.

Uduaghan was responding to the online report which alleged that the former governor had purchased the real estate for fractions of the cost while he was still the governor of the State. He made the comments in Delta State to a few journalists recently.

The former Governor while denying the allegation called the online report an attempt to blackmail his person in return for monetary gains. “It is unfair and simply sad”.

The online report also alleged that the former governor made the purchase in partnership a Senator from Delta State, Senator Nwaoboshi.

Interestingly, checks by sources within the Delta State government indicates that the online report made false and possibly libelous allegations. The real estate was not purchased by the former state governor. According to one of the competent government house sources, “Uduaghan was not intimately involved in the purchase of the property. Uduaghan might not have been a saint but he had no hand in the ‘Guinea House’ buy”.

“We had reviewed the sale of the said real estate thoroughly and can confidently state that the building was not purchased by Uduaghan. The former was under pressure by some of his commissioners to sell the property to one of them or to some of them as a group but Uduaghan was not willing to do so – for whatever reasons that he might have had then”.

The 11 storey building was part of the properties inherited from the Old Bendel State following the creation of Edo and Delta States.
