  • As Doctors warn Against  Futher Incarceration

Feelers around the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, suggests that former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh may be rearrested to face fresh trumped up charges, as the plot to nail him at all cost thickens.

Sources at the commission told our correspondent that, Chief badeh who was granted bail with onerous conditions by the High Court in Abuja, may again be picked up for other alleged sundry allegations, the details of which were not immediately clear.

This is even as doctors managing his health have warned that given his precarious health condition, the EFCC is putting Alex Badeh  at a very great risk by rearresting him and  insisting on his further incarceration.

Speaking shortly after reviewing the condition of the Air Force fighter Jet pilot, the doctors are of the view that, the EFCC has been ignoring warnings over the health of Alex Badeh who was being detained unnecessarily by the EFCC, knowing full well that he is still recuperating from a recent surgery, besides other ailments.

According to them, the health of an individual is relevant to his trial and Badeh was not an exception, noting that, the psychological assault on him by the EFCC continuously detaining him, before eventually charging him to court could further impair his physical health

“We have warned the EFCC through his lawyers that the man has health issues and needs regular reviews, hence denying him choice medical   attention was not only a risk but a violation of universal requirements of basic treatment of detained persons, yet they choose to ignore us. We are only reminding them now that they are taking risks that could bring about credibility crisis in the fight against corruption”, one of them intoned.

They argued that, even as laymen, they know that the  EFCC may be dragging itself into unnecessary political issues, the doctors said, as Alex Badeh’s case seems to have  political undertones.
