The Abia State chapter of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, has slammed a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the state, Prince Benjamin Apugo, over his incessant attacks on Senator Theodore Orji.

The group called on the APC chieftain should tender an unreserved apology to Senator Orji.

In a statement signed by its Deputy State Chairman, Mr. Chetachi Ikpe, the group said it had become a pastime for Apugo to pour invectives on the former governor and called on him to retrace his step or face the wrath of the people.

“Our attention has been drawn to the frivolous claims and half truths in a national daily by Prince Benjamin Apugo against Senator Theodore Orji. There-in Prince Apugo turned truth on its head in his futile bid to clothe Senator Theodore Orji in borrowed robes. The picture he claimed depicted Senator Theodore Orji in a shrine was cloned and computer generated way back in 2007 by enemies of democracy. It did not happen anywhere in reality. The women he claimed protested against Senator Orji were again a manipulated picture.

“Prince Apugo claimed that Senator TA Orji looted Abia funds for eight years. If he (Senator Orji) so did, why then did the Abia central people massively vote for him in the last Senatorial election. Can somebody who looted public funds be so massively supported by the same people he was claimed to have looted their funds?

“Prince Benjamin Apugo has continued to boast of possession of two thousand five hundred plots of land in Umuahia alone at a time several of his kinsmen go to bed hungry, then one can imagine the kind of capitalist he is.  This is in sharp contrast to Senator Orji who has continued to assist the people of his constituency spanning six local government areas through skill acquisition and other empowerment programmes. An elderly person of Prince Apugo’s standing should not have danced naked in the public the way he had done.”
