The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Anambra State on Tuesday said that the scheduled re run election for Anambra Central Senatorial District for March 5 has been postponed indefinitely
The Resident Electoral Commissioner Mr Lawrence Azubike made the disclosure in Awka during a scheduled stakeholders forum for the planned re run election on Saturday .
The REC said he got a directive from its national headquarters from Prof. Mommoud Mohamed the INEC Chairman and Commissioner in charge of elections Hajia Amina Zakari that as a result of court order restraining the commission to hold the planned re-election that as a law abiding commission the election has been put off to a future date

He appealed to the stakeholders to bear with the commission and assured that they will be communicated as soon as new directives gets to the state commission.
Reacting to the new development the state chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Chief Nobert Obi said that they party accepts the decision of INEC and would be waiting for further directives .
He said that the pary was not in doubt of its victory any time the election is fixed and urged its party faithful to be law abiding.
Also Chief Mathias Emeke state congress chairman of Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA) said that he was devastated by the postponement because when election keep suffering such fate its real outcome becomes unrealistic
.
He said that such postponement gives room for electoral fraud and need to be checked.
However ,Emeke said that PPA is ready for the re run election anytime INEC was ready to conduct the election
.
Dr Alex Obigbolu , a chief of People’s Democratic Party said that the decision was alright and urged the INEC to do the needful and bring lasting sanity to the electoral process.
