2016 Budget: Buhari’s Agenda To Exclude Igbos Revealed

The member representing Nkanu East and Nkanu West Federal Constituency, Dr Chukwuemeka Ujam revealed that there was a deliberate action by some ministries to exclude southeast geo-political zone in its capital budget estimate in the controversial 2016 Budget before the National Assembly.

Dr. Ujam who is vice chairman house committee on telecommunication said it is painful that while we are working to unity this country some people are busy dividing the country the more by their actions and inactions.

Regrettably he said, during the budget scrutiny and allocation of projects, some ministries didn’t consider South-East region for allocation of project of any kind.

“I wouldn’t mention the ministry that came for budget defence that didn’t consider southeast worthy of any project. But I told them pointedly that they must allocate something to southeast in the budget no matter where it is cited”.

The former commissioner for Lands and Urban Development disclosure this in an interview with some journalist during a thanksgiving service for he organized for his election victory.

For Ujam, Nkanu people did not sent a vibrant young man like him to national assembly to worm seat and collect allowance at the end of the month. “When I was campaigning I always did say that I will offer quality representation, attract the best and the most for my people, and to be a voice that will be heard in the nation Nigeria on behalf of Nkanu-East/West federal constituency.

Speaking on the investigation of telecom providers by his committee, Dr. Ujam said the investigation anchored on their abuse of unsolicited test messages where the publics are being compelled to make payments unknowingly thereby enriching their pockets.

“I have proffered solution to the committee and unanimously they have agreed because I fill that if a consumer or customer wants to take the pains to receive those kinds of messages, he/she should be the one to contact them not the other way round where you have to call to say I don’t want. No you should call to say I want those kinds of messages. They have agreed to take that on board and just to bring to you the kind of ideas and innovation we are proffering to the public”.

Dr. Ujam who expressed hope that after their interaction with telecom providers, their excesses would be checkmate as providers are going back to National Communication Commission (NCC) to finalize conditions.

Ujam promised that the Digital Bridge Institute the National Communication Commission NCC cited in Enugu will not going to be abounded under their watch.

He however thanked Enugu people, especially the people of Nkanu-East/West whom he represents for their prayers and support. He urged them to continue to support and have confidence on him promising not to disappoint them.
