I was made to understand that the eccentric Comrade, Senator Shehu Sani has visited the hapless boy whose eyes were disgorged in Zaria recently. It is appreciative to hear that he made lofty promises to the boy including footing the boys’ medical bills.
As I often said that I have never have any problem with Shehu Sani, not with his eccentric ways of doing things, not with his distributions of Camels and Analog radios to his constituents. Even when many people considered this his behavior as a sort of enfant terrible, I have no problem with that as he is not representing me.
But what yields the bulk of my concern is his growing unbearable posture of competing with Elrufai, the governor of the state. Everybody in kaduna state today knows that Shehu Sani has taken Elrufai as his arch-rival and arch-enemy even when the latter, as a number citizen of the state, never  steep so low to follow his ways.
This self-imposed unnecessary rivalry and mudslinging against Elrufai has made the comrade to be open out to media sensationalism, and a victim of 419eirs who swindle him every day. Today if you want Comrade’s listening ears just go and peddle a gossip of Elrufai. That is how many people are swindling him. Media houses   have make Shehu Sani a base where they get easy money, and while he too, he sees them as a base where he score a cheap political point in the state.
All these hooplas owe to the fact Shehu Sani is nursing the ambition of becoming governor in the 2019. That is an open secret and no one is against it, as ambition is not bad, but the timing, considering the fact that we are just less than 10 months from when they assumed the mantle ship. Also the way and manner he is going about it leaves much to be desired, as he has completely relegated his role to come and engage in an open competition against his governor.
And this brings the issue of that hospital visit. As the governor of the state, upon receipt of the report about the unfortunate incidence in Zaria, Elrufai had dispatched a team to go and commiserate with the boy and his family and to know the extent of the malady. And as expected pledges were made by the governor including sponsoring education of the boy up to tertiary level, after doling out some token amount to the family of the boy pending the full medical investigation.
However, as soon as the senator hears that, he quickly left Abuja thus abdicates his primary responsibility for which he was elected to do, and rushed down to the hospital just because media had aired the people’s- commendations to the governor for his visit (team visit) and pledges.
On the surface, there is nothing bad for the senator’s visit to the boy even though Zaria is outside the province of his legislative sphere. But beyond the veneer of open-hearted visit by Senator, it was just about Elrufai’s visit.
But the point at issue here is why the unnecessary rivalry? Is there no any hospital in his zone with a similar or worse incidence than the boy’s case? What about patients in admitted in Barau Dikko hospital or Yusuf Dantsoho hospital that became bed-stricken because of lack of money to foot their bills? Has the senator ever visited 44 Army reference hospital where many soldiers that are fighting Boko Haram, who lost their limbs and some with various degree of injuries.
This is why I considered his hospital visit as a mere cosmetic, as it is performed not out of any genuity of purpose but just to score a cheap political point at the expense of other million patients in his zone. And this sort of untamed ambition has become a bottleneck to the needs of his constituents
