“Pray for Nigeria,” Obiano Urges Anglicans

The governor of Anambra State has called for special prayers for Nigeria as the surest weapon for overcoming most of the developmental challenges the country is facing at the moment.

Speaking at the a Special Prayer Rally organised by the Anglican Communion in Anambra State at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka on Saturday, Governor Obiano observed that the challenges of nationhood are not overcome with practical solutions alone pointing out that prayers can change the destiny of any nation for the better.

Governor Obiano urged the Anglicans to hold Nigeria up to God in prayer as that was one of the surest ways of attracting God’s grace and blessings to the country. “I urge you to pray for Nigeria. Pray for Anambra State. Pray for our people. That is the message I came here to deliver to them,” the governor explained in a brief chat with pressmen at the venue.

He thanked the Anglican Communion in the state for staging the Prayer Rally which he observed was in its second year and pledged to donate a 32-seater bus each to the Boys Girls Brigade to whom he is also a patron.

He described the Rally as a great innovation and urged the church not to relent in its efforts to pray Nigeria to greatness.

In their own remarks, the Archbishop of the Province on the Niger and Bishop of Aguata Diocese Most Rev Christian Efobi thanked the governor for lending enormous support to the efforts to hold the Rally. He commended his fatherly role to all the religious groups in the state and prayed that the Almighty God would continue to guide his actions to the benefit of Ndi Anambra.

Most Rev. Efobi equally extolled the leadership qualities of the governor and his good works in the state, pledging the support and prayers of the church to his administration to ensure that God’s purpose for his life was fully fulfilled.
Highpoint of the event was a special prayer session for the governor and his family by all the bishops .
