Former governor of Kogi state and the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in November 21 election, Prince Abubakar Audu, has described as “arrant nonsense” reports circulating on social media that he will return an alleged N11 billion stolen when elected as governor.

The former governor who also expressed confidence of winning the forthcoming governorship election added that the reports were been originated by the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Reports had quoted Kogi state APC Chairman, Alhaji Hadi Ametuo, of assuring Kogi people that his party’s candidate in the governorship poll, Prince Audu Abubakar, would return the over N11 billion he allegedly stole while in office, when re-elected.

Audu is being prosecuted by the anti-graft agency (EFCC) for allegedly misappropriating N11 billion of the states’s funds while he was governor between 1999 and 2003.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja shortly after a closed door meeting with the national chairman of APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, Prince Audu debunked the  claim.

When asked on how prepared he is for the governorship race in Kogi, Prince Audu said: “We are prepared, we are going every nook and cranny of the state campaigning.

On the reports that he would return a certain amount of money when elected, the visibly angry Audu said: “That is arrant nonsense, that is arrant nonsense. It is the PDP that originated the report and it will not help them.”
