The youth wing of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Akwa Ibom state chapter, has condemned the invasion of the Government House, Uyo, by the Department of State Security Services, DSS, and called on the agency to release the report of its finding on the incident.
The group insisted that the release of the report of the findings have become necessary in order to reduce tension as well as calm frayed nerves of both indigenes and non-indigenes in the state who have been alarmed by the action of the agency.
In a statement signed by the state chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths, Akwa Ibom chapter, Mazi Emmanuel Ikechukwu-Jonathan, said that the continued silence being exhibited by the DSS after the raid is enough to put fears on those who want to invest or currently doing business in the state.
“We are making this appeal because of our people who have invested heavily in the economy of this state as we don’t want anything that will create civil unrest because it is our people who will suffer most. You know that any part of this country where there is civil unrest; it is the Ndigbo who normally suffer the damages because they have the highest population of non-indigenes you in any state outside the South East.
“Currently the APC and the PDP are trading blames and nobody knows what may come out of such actions.” he added.
The group also sympathized with the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, who they described as their worthy in-law, over the accident he had on his way to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
“We wish our in-law, Senator Godswill Akpabio quick recovery from injuries he sustained from that accident and pray God to continue to protect him in all his endeavours,” the group added.
