Vigilante Men Nab Child Traffickers, Rescue 14 Month Old Baby

Members of a vigilante group in Umunkpeyi Village, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State have arrested two suspected child traffickers and rescued a 14month old baby boy, Master Chimnwemeri Uche who abducted from his parents in Aba.

247ureports.com gathered the suspected child traffickers; Chinedu Ukachukwu and his friend, Kingsley Mbodo, were in the area to sell the baby to the proprietress of Nma Charity/Maternity and Rehabilitation Center, a famous haven for baby factory and child trafficking, when they were arrested by the Vigilante men.

Ukachukwu and Mbodo who hails from Rivers and Imo sates, respectively,  were said to have on July 22nd, abducted little Master Chinwenmeri from his parents’ residence at No.13 MCC road, Aba, while his mother, Glory Uche, who left the baby under the care of his daughter, was preparing a meal in the kitchen.

Sources told 247ureports.com that the suspects lured Master Chinwenmeri’s elder sister, Chiamaka, into buying bread for them at a nearby shop. Before the little girl could return from the errand, they disappeared with the baby.

 

Nemesis caught up with the two friends when they were arrested at Umunkpeyi by the Vigilante members as they failed to explain how they came about the baby. They were later handed over to the Omoba Division Police.

A female member of the gang, identified as Gold who was introduced to the police by Ukachukwu as the mother of the baby, was also arrested as she could not explain the features of the baby.

Ukachukwu confessed their plan to sell the baby to the proprietress of Nma maternity home in Umunkpeyi , Nma David, who he alleged, has been buying babies from him in the past.

 

Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Ezekiel Onyeke who said the baby has been reunited with his parents, added that that the suspects would soon be transferred to the State CID for further investigation.
