A lance Corporal, Augustine Itugbu Omorodion of 14 Brigade, Ohafia, Abia State has been arrested for robbing a 21year old boy of N250, 000.

Omorodion, who is now cooling his heels in detention at the Aba police Area Command, attacked his victim, identified as Ebuka with a dagger and robbed of the money which he was going to deposit for his boss at one of the commercial banks located near the Ariaria International Market.

247ureports.com gathered that luck ran out of the soldier as the victim raised alarm which attracted passersby and Mobile Policemen in the area.

Said a shop owner witnessed the incident, “Sometimes, traders in Ariaria international market send their boys to deposit large amount of money with them at the bank or pay in money for goods that they have ordered for. This boy was going to one of the commercial banks near the market to deposit money (N250, 000) for his boss before the soldier attacked him.”

The shop owner who said they could not understand how the soldier came to know that the boy was having such amount of money, added that he (the soldier) would have been burnt to death if not for the timely arrival of the MOPOL people.

“People were surprised that a soldier could do such thing in broad day light. They started beating him; others were already gathering petrol and tyre to set him ablaze but the police arrived on time. The crowd wanted to burn him there, saying the police will release him if he gets to the station. People could not believe that a soldier who is supposed to be a law enforcement agent turned to be a robber.”
