Security agencies collaborate to reduce crime in Aba

Security agencies in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State have agreed to sensitise community and youth leaders in their renewed efforts to reduce crime to its barest minimum in the city and its environs.

Area Commander, Aba Area Command of the Nigeria Police, Peter Wagbara disclosed this while addressing a joint meeting of the security agencies operating within Aba metropolis and its environs at the command headquarters yesterday.

Wagbara said that the essence of the sensitisation is to establish community vigilante outfits that would complement the efforts of the security agencies.

The area commander said that as an effort to check the resurgence of hoodlums who invade the town, leaving traces of kidnap, rape, cultism, robbery, and gangsterism, that the security agencies have improved the sectoral patrol of the city.

He said that achievements of the inter-security agencies meeting include reduction of the initial rivalry among the security agencies; bridging he gap between these agencies; and improvement on the response to distress call from residents.

Wagbara said that the elections camewith enormous challenges but they were able to tackle them with best practices.

He extended the commendations from the Inspector- General of Police, IGP to his men through Abia State Commissioner of Police.
