A pan Igbo group, Ndigbo In Aba, has warned political opponents to drop their threat to force the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu out of office or face the wrath of Ndigbo.

The group who convened a rally in solidarity with Ekwermadu yesterday in Aba, Abia state, warned that the plot to remove the deputy senate president from his position is an affront on Ndigbo and the peace and unity of the nation.

“There will be chaos in Nigeria if Ekweremadu is removed. We call on the people behind the unholy plot to desist or face our anger. Ekweremadu’s emergence as deputy senate president is positive development in Nigerian’s political landscape.”

Conveners of the rally, Prof. Charles Chinekezi, Barr. Chinedu Duru , including leaders of town unions, artisans, market union, civil society and groups, vowed to resist any move to push out Ekweremadu because his position remains the only consolation for Ndigbo in the present political dispensation.

“We will not allow Ike Ekweremadu to be forced out of his position as deputy senate president. We are solidly behind him. The plot against Ekweremadu by political won’t work. How can you call it a national cake, but when the cake is being shared, there will be all sorts of plot to stop Ndigbo from getting their due. There is nothing wrong in a democracy for a minority party member to occupy an exalted seat in the senate, especially in a situation where Ndigbo would have been left to lurch endlessly in the political wilderness in this dispensation,” the group said.
