A combination of ethnic groups have professed that President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election as president will further deepen national unity, stabilise the polity and transform the economy.

The coalition consisting of three groups; Conference of Minority Tribes in Nigeria, Oduduwa Progressive Youth Coalition and the Ohaneze Independent Solidarity  Front made this call during a press conference held in Abuja, calling on Nigerians to vote for Goodluck as president for the unity and continuous coexistence of the nation.

According to them the incumbent president has the capacity to transform the nation further if given the opportunity citing recent successes of the army in the war against insurgency, power sector reforms, bringing back the railway system and giant strides in the education system.

In a statement signed by Comrade Okpokwu Shagari, Rotimi Adeola and Charles Mbani on behalf of the groups, said their call for the continuation of the Goodluck administration was to enable it consolidate on the good works it has begun, “since it conceptualised the reforms and developments it was better fit to see it to the end”.

Speaking further the groups advised Nigerians to jettison the idea of changing a government which has proven to be performing. It also wondered why Gen. Muhammadu Buhari has refused to address the certificate issues which have snowballed into a legal tussle.

Taking a swipe at the general, Comrade Okpokwu speaking to newsmen after the conference challenged Buhari to clear issues of religious extremism leveled against him, as according to him recent inciting comments by Buhari are not statemanly.

“The recent discovery of the 700 Dollars donation by Arab Businessmen is also an ominous sign that our integrity as a sovereign nation under a Buhari presidency might be compromised as such he is a misfit for the job”. He declared.
