Minister of Youth Development Mr. Boni Haruna has expressed regrets at
what he says was the lukewarm attitude of the Adamawa State Government
in evacuating Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) back to their
localities.

He expressed this concern during the weekend shortly after visiting
Michika and Madagali the two local government areas liberated from the
insurgents Boko Haram islamist.

Mr. Haruna who was at one time Governor of the state observed while
talking to newsmen in the two local government areas that while the
military has done so much for the displaced persons especially in the
areas of medical care as well as providing other mop up services, the
state government has however not done much in that direction.

According to him, while over 70% of the people especially from Michika
were eager to be part of the electoral processes following the
dismantling of Boko Haram insurgents nothing much is being done to
encourage that.

At his village Kuburshosho one of the returnee Luka Ezra a father of
six said he along with hundreds of others were glad to be back home
after six months of sojourning in different IDP camps in Yola.

A woman Madam Theresa Yakubu on her part was full of praises for the
Almighty God for enabling her come back.

Addressing hundreds of the returnees both at Michika and Madagali, he
assured them that Government was doing everything to enable them
settle down.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police force spokesman DSP Othman Abubakar made
it known to newsmen that they have no men on ground in Michika and
Madagali hence it is unsafe for the IDPs to go back.

According to the police spokesman, when the place is formally declared
safe by the military, then their men who had left these areas will
return and further make things easy for the returnee IDPs
