Alhaji Sagir Takai, PDP gubernatorial candidate in Kano has promised to prioritise quality education if elected governor of the State in February.
Takai made the promise at a debate organised for five governorship candidates in Kano on Sunday.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
The debate was organised by Bayero University, Kano, in collaboration with some NGOs to enable the candidates to showcase their manifestoes to electorate.
Takai said it was his intention to ensure that quality education was provided from primary school up to the tertiary level if given the mandate.
“This is necessary in order to give the education sector the required attention it deserves.
“This will be done through the provision of necessary instruction materials, qualified teachers and other necessary equipment’’, he said.
According to him, Islamic schools would also receive the necessary attention through the upgrading of the schools to meet the aspirations of the people.
The PDP gubernatorial candidate, who pledged to operate an open door policy, also said that his administration would give security the necessary attention it deserved.
“Our administration will collaborate with various security agencies in addition to giving them the necessary support to enhance their activities’’, he said.
The Peoples Democratic Movement’s gubernatorial candidate, Mr Bashir Ishaq, said he would revive the agriculture sector so as to boost food production and to provide job opportunities to unemployed youths.
He noted that reviving agriculture was necessary in view of the fall in the price of oil across the globe.
“The revenue from oil has reduced due to the fall in oil price; so, any serious government has to look inward with a view to generating more revenue for the implementation of its programmes’’, he said.
NAN reports that all the other candidates also promised to accord priority to education, health and agriculture among others.
Others present were Alhaji Garba Yakasai of PPN and Hajiya Binta Rufa’i of UPP, while the APC candidate, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, was absent.
