Abuja based Non Governmental organisation, the Society for Rule of Law in Nigeria (SRLN) has chided the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi for allegedly donating N1.5 billion to the campaign fund of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).

According to a release issued in Abuja today, and signed by the SRLN National Coordinator, Dr Chima Ubeku, "a N1.5bn donation from someone like Fayemi, who left two months salary of workers and deductions for cooperative societies unpaid is in bad faith and should be questioned."

A message from APC NEWS on Wednesday, night had indicated that the Fayemi transferred the N1.5bn from his account in a bank located along Liberation Square,  Accra, Ghana.

It was alleged that the N1.5bn donation was made so as to put Fayemi in a vantage position for ministerial appointment should Buhari wins the February 14 Presidential election.

Reacting, SRLN said "Fayemi must tell Nigerians where he got that huge amount of money from. Is it from what he stole from the Ekiti State treasury?"

Speaking further, Dr Ubeku said; "How can someone who left office with August and September salaries of workers unpaid be making N1.5bn to Buhari's campaign just because he wants to be minister?

"Most importantly, where is the morality in Buhari’s anti-corruption posture when he is funded with stolen fund?

"Fayemi must therefore explain where he got the N1.5bn from."
