As former minister takes APGA campaign to Aboh Mbaise, Ngor-Okpala
The governorship candidate for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo State, Capt Emmanuel Ihenacho, has reiterated that if the past governments in Imo State had optimally utilized the common wealth of the people that he would not have bothered to run for the 2015 governorship election.
The former Minister of Interior stated this while addressing the people of Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State during an on-going political rally and election campaigns for APGA in the Eastern Heartland held at C.MS. playground Nkwogwu in Aboh Mbaise.
At the event, Capt Ihenacho said that APGA had the best progressive political agenda for the Igbos remarking that if all the resources accruing to the state since when the present political dispensation started had been properly utilized, the level of poverty in the state would have been drastically reduced.
Lamenting further, the oil mogul said that because of the immunity against prosecuting governors while in office, that most governors in the states embezzle state fund and at the end of the day are not brought to book.
However, he promised to be one of the governors who would lead the campaign for the removal of Immunity Clause from the country’s constitution.
In a similar event at the County Council playground Umuneke Ngor in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area, the governorship hopeful pointed out that the major problem facing the state was unemployment stating that the present government in the state had no idea of how to attract industries that would create jobs for the teeming unemployed youths of the state.
‘What we see in Imo State after four years are roundabouts, gates, empty buildings and monuments at the various locations in Imo State. These things cannot create employment for our people. The Okorocha government has done one or two things but those things done will lead us to nowhere. This is because the government lacks what it takes to create wealth and bring true development in Imo State…’.
The Emekuku Owerri-born international mariner recounted how he employed many youths from the state in the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Immigration Service, Customs and Excise etc. when he was the Minister of Interior. He said that inasmuch as he was not the Minister of Labour then, that through vision, experience, passion and a well articulated programme, he was able to provide the jobs in less than a year and half he was a minister.
He however, promised to do better in the state if voted into power as a governor.
On the free education policy of the present government in the state the governorship candidate said that it was deceptive, non-qualitative and would hardly lead to employment at the end of the day.
He however said that if voted into office, his government would draw a more result oriented educational policy that would lead to job immediately after graduation from school.
Therefore, the business mogul beckoned on the people of the area to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan as an adopted APGA presidential candidate and all APGA candidates during the February 2015 general elections.
Other persons who spoke at the two events include the party’s State Deputy Chairman Dr. David Iwuagwu, the senatorial candidate for Owerri Zone Mr. Pascal Nneji and the candidate for Ngor-Okpala State Constituency Mr. Jeff Nwachukwu.
