The governorship primary election slated to hold nationwide by the All Progressives Congress, APC, did not hold in Imo as planned.
Our reporter who had been following activities within the APC in the state gathered the party had no governorship aspirant.
It was also gathered that the governorship position was reserved for Governor Rochas Okorocha, who had been busy touring round the country to campaign for votes for his presidential ambition.
Loading ...Okorocha had told the people of the state at a forum that he was only running for the presidency to tell Nigerians that Igbo had personality.
He even said that his aspiration had since made Nigeria to recognize the Igbo and that other parts of the country, especially those, where top aspirants for the presidency come from, had started engaging the Igbo on how they would be fully part of the running of the country, thereby fueling speculation that he was not a serious contender to the presidential race.
Through to the ongoing speculation, the APC in the state was said to have barred interested aspirants from purchasing nomination and expression of interest forms for governorship position.
When our reporter contacted and queried the state chairman of the APC, Dr. Hilary Eke on why the party could not conduct primary election for the governorship position in the state, he asked back, “who told you that we have not conducted primaries for governorship?”
When our reporter sought to know when and where the election was held and who emerged victorious, the chairman said he would call back later to give details and situation report.
