APGA Postpones Ward Congresses in 3 Local Government Areas

The  All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) on Tuesday postponed the conduct of ward congresses in three  out of the 21 councils in Anambra for logistic reasons.

Chief Mike kwentoh, chairman of the party in Anambra told 247ureports.com at the party secretariat that the congress would hold in the other 18 councils in the state .

Kwentoh said  the congresses in the affected local government areas which included  Awka North, Ogbaru and Anambra West would hold on Thursday, according to him the action was to avoid late conclusion of the exercises in the councils due to their proximity.

‘It is not a suspension, it is purely for logistics reasonsand by Thursday we shall have our congresses there,’ he said.

Benjamin Mgbor, Chairman, national Panel on ward congress in Anambra said that APGA was taking a step that was in line with electoral guidelines.
Mgbor who addressed a press conference expressed satisfaction that the exercise was moving on smoothly at the various
councils.

He said that the congress was to elect a three man delegate of a two male and one female from the 326 wards in Anambra adding that every card carrying member of APGA was qualified to vote and be voted for.

‘Today we APGA is conducting ward congress to elect 978 delegates in Anambra who will take part in the primaries, let it be on record that APGA has joined other political parties by doing this in Anambra and all other states we have candidates for elections.

‘It is going on in Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo and all other states, it is in line with the electoral guidelines in Nigeria, our assurance is that there is and will always be alevel playing ground in their respective wards.“The contested have had two weeks to campaign and they haveeven opportunities to test their popularity and at the end we wish to have the delegates that are acceptable to their wards,’ he said.

Other members of the panel were Mr. Ikechukwu Chukwukere,secretary, Mrs
Ezinne Agbiogwu, Deacon Samson Olalere, and Alh. Sardauna Elleman.
