A housewife, Mrs Jane Mbanwuchula, who was delivered of quadruplets has appealed to the government and good spirited individuals over a One Million Naira (N1,000,000) bill which has led to her being detained at the St. Anthony Hospital, Aba.

Mbanwuchula who gave birth to the quadruplet (two boys, two girls) through caesarian section since a forthnight, made the appeal lamenting that her husband has sold all their belongings and has not realized the huge bill.

A nurse at the St. Anthony Hospital who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the babies look healthy and are being taken care of to avoid any untoward incident and added that they need to be transferred to a better equipped medical facility due to the circumstances of their birth.

“The babies were delivered at 35weeks instead of the 38-40 weeks normal period. Their weights are not the same and that is why they needed to be transferred to another hospital with incubating facilities where they will be closely monitored until their maturity stage. Apart from that, the babies are doing well and there were no complications or health challenges, at least for now,” the nurse said.

In a chat with journalists at the hospital, father of the quadruplet, Mr. Chima Mbanwuchula thanked God for a successful surgery and appealed for assistance from government and the good spirited individuals to settle the N1million hospital bills.

Mbanwuchula lamented that the appeal has become necessary as he still needs money to offset other medical expenses including the feeding of their newly born babies.

“This is my first time of seeing this kind of blessing. I used to hear or read about it in newspapers. I have three boys already and while we were looking for a female child, the quadruplet came. I am pleading with the government to and public spirited individuals for assistance. The doctor called to tell me that some of the babies need to be in incubator because their weight is not up to what it is supposed to be. They need to be transferred to the Abia State General Hospital (ABSUTH) which has the incubating facility which is what the babies need now.

“It is not easy to train one and now that I have seven children with the addition of these four. So, I want the government and spirited individuals to come to our help so that we can leave the hospital and enable the babies get the required medical care,” he said.

The couple added that financial assistance could be sent through this account number:  Igbom Chima Henry, First Bank Nig. Plc, 3006860092.
