The Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB)  says it is committed to its non violent struggle to ensure that the dream of every Igbo man of having the state of Biafra would be achieved in due course.

Speaking in Aba, Abia State on the 16th anniversary of the existence of the Movement, MASSOB’s acting director of Information, Mr. Sunny Okereafor said the Movement had given Ndigbo a voice by sustaining the struggle for the emancipation of the Igbo for which its late leader, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu gave his life for.

He vowed that MASSOB is determined to emancipate Ndigbo despite what he described as the recent sabotage by some of her members who he alleged were being instigated by politicians to destabilize the movement.

Okereafor listed MASSOB’s achievements within its 16 years of its existence to include a housing estate at Okwe in Onuimo LGA of Imo State where Biafran war veterans, who were left at Oji River in Enugu State as beggars, were being cared for and paid monthly stipends.

Others include the placement of children of Biafran war veterans on scholarships up to university level and giving befitting burials to Biafran dead heroes.

The Acting Director spokesman of MASSOB disclosed that the Movement was building a magnificent library named after Ojukwu, in Owerri, Imo state which he said, would contain all books and other equipment relating to Biafra to keep the Igbo man up to date with the details of the struggle.

“We know that the journey would not be easy from the onset, in as much as we are thanking Ndigbo for their support so far, we want to assure our brothers and sisters that we have determined to march  on until victory is achieved,” Okereafor said.
