The Rivers State Patriotic Youth Assembly(RSYPA) has called on the Arewa Youth Leaders and Stakeholders to be downright in addressing issues concerning internal party politics in the country.

President of RSYPA, Joseph Harry Itenyi, made the call yesterday in Port Harcourt in a reaction to a statement by the Arewa Youths in which the group condemned the collective endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan as the sole candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party,

Itenyi said: “I see the position of the Arewa youths as less informed because a collective decision of a political party to present any candidate as the PDP has done is as good as an election. The Arewa youths will have to be more open minded and patriotic in the interest of peace in our country.”

He went further to say the decisions and internal politics within the PDP are normal and our concern is for Nigerians to be given the chance to choose from the candidates presented by the political parties.

“If the PDP decides to present anybody they are comfortable with, that is an internal issue and solely their business, the same thing applies to the APC and other political parties. What we expect is that Nigerians will have the freedom to choose from the candidates, the president they want in 2015.” Itenyi said yesterday.
