Dimgba Igwe the man who is the brain behind Kalu Leadership Series (KLS) published weekly in SUN Newspapers for illiterate Orji Uzor Kalu has died in mysterious circumstances in Lagos few days after having heated argument with his employer Orji Uzor Kalu.
Dimgba, who until his death was the Vice Chairman of SUN newspapers was said to have been knocked down by a hit and run driver near his house. Efforts made to save his life shortly after the unfortunate incident was abortive.
Dimgas death is coming less than three months when his colleague The Managing Editor (Northern Operations) of Orji Uzor Kalus New Telegraph Malam Suleiman Bisalla died in the blast that hit a shopping mall in Abuja. Suliemans body was charred but not in any form resembling that of a bomb blast. His body did not look like he was hit even by a stray bullet. His family members are still fingering Orji Uzor kalu.
An eye witness account revealed that Dimgbas deaths was basically an assassination as the vehicle that hit Dimgba was unmarked, appeared on tinted glasses and went straight to hit Dimgba who was engaged in his routine morning exercise. The way and manner Dimgba was hit would convince one that he was marked for death by enemies. It would not be an accident because he was running on the same road with his friend who was even the more exposed to traffic than Dimgba. Again, the route where he was killed is a domestic route with less traffic.
A close aide of the deceased who spoke to Eastern Voice on condition of anonymity also revealed that Dimgba had confronted Orji Uzor Kalu two days earlier; in respect of arrears of eight months’ salary owed him (Dimgba). Dimgba informed Orji Uzor Kalu that he was facing deep frustration and risked having his children not returning to school as he had no money.
Orji Uzor Kalu it was learnt, was shocked when Dimgba said that after the first week of September, he is not paid the backlog of salaries owed him, he would stop writing for Orji Uzor kalu and will indeed resign his appointment with SUN. Orji Uzor knew the implication of Dimgbas threat and promised to deal with him decisively. Barely 48 hours after this heated argument, Dimgba died.
Reacting to Dimbgas death, Gen. Paul Tong, the General Overseer of Evangel Pentecostal Church (EPC), Okota; Lagos expressed shock that a Christian of Dimgbas caliber would accept to work for a man with the history of ritual killing and murder as Orji Uzor Kalu.
Gen. Tong said, Dimgba Igwe was the Deputy General Overseer of EPC and an ordained Pastor. When it was clear that Concorde Group of Newspapers, his employers at the time; could not settle his wages following the incarceration and eventual death of MKO Abiola the owner; Dimgba showed signs of desperation. Of all the offers at the time, I remember warning him to resist that from Orji Uzor Kalu who offered him to work for SUN newspapers
As a child of God, Dimgba ought to have seen those signs that he was in real danger. First, Orji Uzor Kalu cheated him out of the proceeds of the book Orji Uzor Kalu: The Master Strategist. As if that was not enough, Orji Uzor Kalu sacked him as Deputy Managing Director/Deputy Editor in Chief for no justifiable reasons.
As a cover up, Dimgba was handed over the ceremonial position of Vice Chairman from where he did all Orji Uzor Kalu’s dirty writing assignments; and was not paid salaries eight months before his death.
Continuing, the Army General turned Pastor said while he mourned the death of his deputy, he is constrained by the evil deeds of Orji Uzor kalu to place a curse on him for wasting the life of a young enterprising Dimgba.
When Eastern Voice visited Dimgba’s Lagos residence, his twin brother Mike Awoyinfa obviously devastated simply asked this reporter to pray for him. Mike former Managing Director/Editor in Chief of SUN Newspapers and Dimgba’s closest confidante was visibly worried about his own fate given that he shared the same ideology with Dimgba. Mike fears he may be next on the assassination row. Mike was sacked same time with Dimgba and is also owed backlog of salaries by Orji Uzor Kalu.
Many believe that Dimba Igwe, who visibly abandoned his calling as a Pastor was a victim of nemesis having elected to play dirty along with his master Orji Uzor Kalu. Dimgba in his last days, using Orji Uzor Kalu as a pseudonym authored unfounded lies against the people and government of Abia State. Those who are disposed to this opinion insist that Dimgba was only served what he actually wished others.
Meanwhile, Dimgba’s wife while wailing lamented that the idea of every morning walk came into being because Dimgba wanted to run away from heartbreak occasioned by working for a wicked man who owed him salaries for eight months. While not ruling out the possibility of assassination, the deceased’s wife said my husband died the day he accepted to work for a monster called Orji Uzor Kalu.
