2015: APGA Threatens To Punish Members Over Rumored Adoption Of Candidates

The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Abia state chapter has threatened to punish any member who is found to be behind the false reports in which the party is said to have anointed candidates for the governorship and other positions to be contested for in the 2015 general elections in the state.
State Chairman of the party, Onapuruagu Prince Ukaegbu who issued the threat in an interaction with journalists in Aba, explained that the practice of anointing candidates for elections is alien to the culture of the party.
Ukaegbu who was flanked by the State secretary, Chief Sunday Evuru; State Woman Leader, Hon. Mrs. Ijeoma Ujoumunna among other members of the state executive committee, added that the governorship ticket of the party has not been zoned to any of the three senatorial zones of the state and assured that all elective offices in the general elections shall be contested for through free, fair and credible primaries.
“The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Abia state to categorically state and to lay to rest insinuations by certain governorship aspirants under the platform of the party of having been anointed for the 2015 governorship elections and the party ticket in their back pocket,” Ukaegbu said.
He warned those behind the false reports to desist from such acts which are capable of reducing the chances of the party in the coming election.
“APGA views such as anti party activities and we will not hesitate to impose severe disciplinary measures against any member linked to these misrepresentations. We frown at any issue which will bring our great party into disrepute; particularly not now that the people of Abia state have seen APGA as the best alternative in 2015.”
A ranking APGA chieftain in the state who preferred anonymity told 247ureports.com that the party’s stance became necessary following widespread reports that the governorship ticket of the party has been has been handed over to Chief Chikwe Udensi who hails from Arochukwu Council in Abia North zone which has had its turn from 1999 – 2007 through former governor, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu.
