The Minister of State for Works, Mr Adedayo Adeyeye, on Monday said that Ekiti people deserve kudos for liberating the Yorubas from the bondage of the All Progressives Congress, (APC).
Adeyeye, who briefed journalists in his Ise-Ekiti country home, described the APC governors’ change of their anti-masses policies as a fallout of the defeat the party suffered in the state.
He described the reversal of their policies as an act of deceit propelled by the fear of an impending rejection by the people in 2015.
Adeyeye described the reversal of tuition fee by Gov. Babatunde Fashola of Lagos and the planned review of the ban on Okada in the state as fake.
“I am proud to be part of the June 21 governorship election, which has forced the APC governors to embark on desperate review of their anti-people policies.
“Ekiti people can now hold their heads high, having liberated the Southwest from the oppression of the APC.
“They think our people cannot read between their deceits. That is why they are embarking on policy somersault, reducing school fees that they increased without justification.
“They are also planning to unban Okada that they banned without considering the plight of the Okada riders and Lagosians in general.
“Now that Fashola has returned Lagos State University tuition fees to what he met it, what will happen to those who dropped out of the university due to the increment?
“If eventually, the ban on Okada is reviewed, will Fashola also return the several thousands of Okadas that he destroyed to their owners?
“Will he bring back those Okada Riders that lost their lives because of the ban back to life?, “he said.
The minister urged the people not to be deceived by the sudden welfarist posture of the APC governors.
Adeyeye said; “in saner climes, no governor will first increase school fees from N25, 000 to over N300, 000 and wait for more than three years before reversing the increment.
“Such a governor ought to have resigned.
“In the entire Southwest today, apart from the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), it was only PDP governments that established tertiary institutions.
“It was under four years that Baba Lateef Jakande established LASU and Lagos State Polytechnic, which the APC government made difficult for children of common men to attend.
“They continued until the Ekiti election forced them to reduce the fees, therefore, no one should be hoodwinked by the APC governors’ reversal of increment in school fees.
“This is because; the fees ought not to have been increased in the first place.”
