Fayose, who perform the inauguration in Ado-Ekiti, described the debt profile of the state under Gov. Kayode Fayemi as worrisome and disturbing.

He warned those with political ambitions in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015 against name-dropping.

The governor-elect  said, “nobody in the party has been penciled down for any appointment, except two people that I have promised and those were on conditional grounds.”

Fayose said that Fayemi’s government had plunged the state into huge debt.

“The debt is so much that we will have to sensitise the members of the public on the situations on ground, because of high expectations in town.

“I want to passionately appeal to members of the committee against turning  the position
into political appointments.

“You are to work with the government team when it is constituted for fact–finding mission about the situation of the treasury of the state, “he said.

Fayose said, “the current government of Fayemi has plunged Ekiti into huge debt and our money is being  deducted from source.

“Available records show that Fayemi has taken N25 billion loan and only N8 billion has been paid back, this is disturbing and worrisome.

“They are also diverting the money for salaries to pay contractors that have not been on ground in the last one year.

“This administration is doing all these so that they can incur huge debt just for me (Fayose) not to have a smooth sail.”

He said that when he left government, he left a sum of N10.4 billion in the coffers, apart from the fact that his administration performed well.

Fayose said that, today, we are inheriting debt, I have to let the people know because of the expectations in
town on my administration.

“With the situation on the ground, Ekiti situation is not promising at all,  because there
was no magic to perform when there is no money.

“I want to urge the APC to realize that, they will still need these Ekiti people they were trying to punish again and it will be wrong to toy with their future.

“I want to plead with Fayemi to pay the salaries of workers.”

Fayose charged the committee members not to use the opportunity to fight the state government.

“You just have to get the facts and let the people be aware of the situation on ground.”

“Only those with grass roots connection will be used for future elections in PDP.

“I also want to advise anyone with political ambition to desist from using his name to intimidate other interested members, “he said.

Reacting to the debt profile allegation, the Commissioner for Information, Mr Tayo Ekundayo, advised Fayose to stop attacking the government and wait until he takes over before start making policy statements.

He said a sum of N13 billion has been paid back out of the bond taken by Fayemi’s government.

Ekundayo said that government has not taken other loans apart
from the N25 billion that was borrowed from the capital market.

He said, “Does Fayose  has the account of the State? We have never
hidden anything from the people, he is a governor-elect and he must not jump the gun.

“He cannot be commenting on issue  he has no record about and he must stop making comments until he takes over to be able to ask about the finances of the state.”

Members of the committee include: Mr Dipo Anisulowo(Chairman), Mrs Modupe Alade (Secretary), Pastor Kola Oluwawole, Mr Owoseeni Ajayi and Rev Wale Komolafe.

Others are: Mr Biodun Alasoluyi, Mr Benjamin Komolafe, Mr Seye Alade and Mr Dayo Ajayi.
