Vigilant Osun Youth have intercepted and arrested a truck- full of ballot papers meant for the State of Osun Gubernatorial elections, at Otan-Ile town in Obokun Local Government Area around 3.00am this morning along with the driver, the   INEC Electoral Officer (EO) of the local government.

The Youth received information that a white Toyota Hillux was conveying Ballot papers and intercepted the vehicle , arrested the driver and the INEC officials accompanying the vehicle and handed them over to the Police.

However, the youth did not go home, but chose to keep vigil over the Police Station, while the suspects are helping the Police in their investigation. It took the intervention of the Police to forestall lynching of the suspects.

Unlike the suspect vehicle with Registration Number: FG 816 V01, vehicles on official distribution of ballot papers are usually accompanied by political party agents and security personnel.

Also the Nigerian Police Command in the State of Osun have  arrested an undisclosed number of PDP officials  and taken them into custody in connection with their possession of ballot papers thumb-printed in favour of the main opposition party in the state earlier this morning.

The suspects numbering three were  arrested  in possession of cartons of thump-printed ballot papers at Gbongan- Osogbo Road . Theyhave made useful statements to the Police.

In another development the  massive  clamp-down on APC in Ife South LGA  intensified last lnight particularly  Garage Olode where an APC leader, Yekini Adeleke (aka Yenkulu) was picked up by suspected PDP thugs, deceptively dressed in Police Uniform ,but surprisingly discovered to be wearing different colours of booths and canvases ranging from brown ,through blue to green.

Eye witness account report that the incident took place at around 2.00pm, and that Adeleke was severely beaten by the gun-totting fake policemen, amid protest by Adeleke’s family before whisking his away in a dark-coloured Nissan car.

Mr Adeleke’s whereabouts was unknown at the time of this report.

Meanwhile Osun Chapter of APC has protested the move by the Police to transfer the Obokun matter where the federal government-owned vehicle was arrested to the legal unit, of the force, because according the party ‘it is an attempt to kill the matter which the people Osun State will not allow.’
