Following the imminent ecological disaster threatening Obinofia Ndiuno community in Ezeagu local government area of Enugu state, the President General of the town, Chief Chukwudi has raised alarm over the erosion problem, calling on quick intervention by the government.
Rising from an emergency town hall meeting, the community noted that any further delay could see the community cut off by erosion.
The investigation from 247ureport correspondent who visited the community has it that the Nkwo Ezeagu-Obinofia Ndiuno linking Obinofia Ndiagu road has been washed away by erosion that has dug ditches which cut off the road from motorists.
Also the community further pleaded with both the state and federal government to come to their rescue by embarking on recovery of the road through asphalt and drainage construction.
Chief Chukwudi Ezinwa, however congratulated the Ezeagu local government, Enugu state and the federal governments on their interests in the community but pleaded with them to see the erosion menace as an embarrassment to the community.
Ezinwa particularly expressed appreciation to the House of Representatives member representing Ezeagu/Udi federal constituency, Hon. Ogbuefi Ozomgbachi for facilitating the on-going construction of road projects in Ezeagu LGA by the federal government.
The meeting passed a vote of confidence on Ozomgbachi and prayed for his continued stay in office, urging its indigenes to protect electrical installations in the community and ensure that vegetation obstructing electrical cables is cleared.
The union warned any member of the community shielding criminals to expose them or face the wrath of the town union, stating that it would be quit imperative for the community members to pay their dues so as to facilitate community projects mapped out by the union.
Public smoking and sale of cannabis was also banned in the community just like anybody found digging sand along the road will be fined.
