Former minister of Interior and governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo state, Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho says the state is seriously in need of a governor whose administration would solidly anchor on honesty, transparency and accountability for the purposes of achieving genuine economic growth as well as restoring peoples’ confidence in the governance of the state.

Addressing his supporters in Owerri, Iheanacho argued that governance all over the world has remained a serious business which must be approached with maturity and sincerity of purpose.

“I have taken my time to study our present situation as regards to governance of our dear state. Regrettably, certain leadership ingredients such as honesty, transparency and accountability which ultimately should drive good governance are completely lacking in the system. This basically accounts for the reason why people’s confidence in governance has completely eroded in the system we presently operate. However, the only solution to this problem is nothing but electing a matured person as a governor in 2015 that will exhibit accountability, honesty and transparency in governance. Having accessed other aspirants, I can boldly say that I am the most experienced and that matured person with capacity needed to salvage and reposition our dear state.

The former minister explained that he was compelled to run for the governorship position due to the urgent need for holistic and integrated development approach which will ultimately lead to massive job creation, affordable healthcare services, quality education system, infrastructural upgrade, rural development and adequate provision of social amenities to the people.

While condemning over dependency of states on federal allocations in the country, the former minister disclosed his vision for vast exploration of local contents and areas of comparative advantage towards making Imo the most viable state in the country.

“I have never subscribed to over decency of states on monthly federal allocations for better reasons. Honestly, we can do better if we look inwards to explore our local contents and areas of comparative advantage towards raising substantial funds that will make our states viable. With sound and well- thought- out economic policies, I am strongly convinced that Imo will change this ugly trend in the country and become a shinning example for others to emulate. I am committed to redefining governance if given the mandate” Iheanacho said.

He enjoined political actors as well as aspirants to play the game according to the rules of engagement by presenting to the people their plans for the development of the state rather than resorting to campaign of calumny and blackmail which cannot boost any developmental agenda.
