Police Arrest Two Kidnappers, Recover Car, Live Ammunition

The police in Aba, Abia state have arrested two members of a kidnapping gang who has been terrorizing residents of the state.

 

The suspects, Chukwu Orji and Udechukwu Kwuoka were killed when they engaged the police in a gun battle at Aro-Ngwa on the Aba —Umuahia Expressway while others escaped with bullet wounds.

 

247ureports.com gathered that the suspects died on their way to the hospital Aba as they were badly wounded by the superior fire power of the police Anti Robbery team.  A short double barrel gun, six live magazines and one unregistered Volkswagen Passat car were some of the items recovered from them.

 

The gang, who were alleged to be behind series of kidnappings and armed robberies in Aba, were on their way to another operation in Nkporo town when the Police team acting on a tip off,  way laid them.

 

The gang were also said to be behind the shooting of one Mrs. Ifeoma Ubah a resident of No. 66 Mbaise road Aba on the leg after an attempt to abduct her failed.

 

Contacted on phone, the Public Relations Officer, Abia state police command, ASP Geoffrey Ogbonna confirmed the incident and added that the police has launched a manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang.
