PRESS RELEASE:

Godswill Akpabio b

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone B, condemns

in its entirety the recent Governor and Deputy Governor Pension Bill

2014, hurriedly passed into law by Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly

and its consequent assent by the State Governor (the Chief

Beneficiary), within a short space of 7 days.

NANS hereby call for an immediate amendment of the law, as it clearly

shows an insensitiveness to the plight of the ordinary Akwa Ibomites

and it’s economic well being.

State, whom are the tax payers, to have ever planed such a wicked law

in a State were the cost of education is increasing on a daily basis

and high rate of unemployment rate is equally on the high side.

The action of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly is a clear case of a

rubber stamp institution, as they have clearly failed in their duties,

which does not tell good of us and further diminishes our hope as a

growing Democratic Nation.

Isn’t it an irony for someone that put in 8 years of service to be

claiming 200 million annually, while another that put in over 30 years

to be claiming peanut. Is Governor Godswill Akpabio telling the World

While we acknowledge the Governor’s transformation in the area of

infrastructural development, we want to state categorically that this

insensitive law should be amended, as there is absolutely no

justification for its passage. It should be noted, that Leadership is

a call to service and for no reason, must it be mistaken for another

Finally, we call on all well meaning Nigerians, Civil Society

Organisation and all men of goodwill to rise and say NO to this

Anti-Peoples’ Law to avoid making it a norm in our Society.
