Two market women have been feared dead as Soldiers stationed at the Military Unit at Ngwa road Primary School, Aba, Abia State killed a yet to be identified kidnapper after he attempted to escape arrest.
247ureports.comĀ gathered that the kidnapper who had come to the Ngwa road area to collect ransom from the relations of an abducted victim did not know that soldiers having been tipped off about his mission were trailing him.
When the kidnapper who was said to be making contact with the family member who was in possession of the ransom, realized that the soldiers had closed in on him, he took to his heels and was given a hot pursuit.
After a hot chase, the soldiers gunned him down near the popular Ngwa Road Market.
However, what would have been celebrated as a victory against the resurgence of kidnapping in the city turned sour as stray bullets hit two market women who were later taken to an undisclosed hospital in the city. Another told our correspondent that a child sachet water seller was also hit by a stray bullet but this could not be confirmed as at press time.
As at the time of filing this report, the state of health of the two market women was yet to be known but eyewitnesses hinted that they lost much blood.
Attempts to get the reaction of one Major Aniukwu, who is the Commander of the Military Unit at Ngwa road proved abortive as soldiers on guard barred our correspondent from the facility.
