Nigeria is notoriously in shambles, her citizen never cease to rumble, in a jungle risen with menacing noise and unexplainable confusions, similitude of an empty darkroom ridden with political jumbos. For the whole duration of her being an independent nation, untold ruination had tainted her sanctity and prominence among the country of Nations that horrendously call for a speedy reincarnation of her lost values, norms and glory. It is only then, that many will lease to worry about her future and puzzling story.

“Kano Tumbin Giwa” is a popular Hausa accolade that is used in describing the intimidating presence and existence of a historic cosmopolitan city with its commercial astuteness and veritable success. This cadre of city has a wholly swallowing and all-encompassing policy of assimilation whose vivid impact contributes vastly towards positioning it among the opportune-few commercialized and industrialized cities in sub-saharan African. History had it that in the 60s, when commercial activities are as rare as an oasis in a desert, Kano’s economy alone is equivalent to 2/3 sub-saharan Africa nation’s economy combines altogether. What an economical feat?

The fact that this ancient city has produced a sizeable number of likes business- oriented people’s calls for a genuine reflection and study of the causes and or rational behind its speedy economic backwardness cause by Nigeria custom service in the state.

Because of illegal activist of men of the Customs service the business of state is collapsing, as visitors from neighboring state are stop coming for business. Our market remain in shamble as Men from Federal operation unit and CG task force on rice smuggling are always on the road to arrest marketers coming in for buying rice at our market in Sabon gari.

I believe the customs turn Kano Market as enemy of state by forcing most of petty traders to increase the price of Rice because of Custom are collecting an unofficial duties from them.

Just suspend all sentiments and bias and just study the manner at which the customs are operating in Kano Market and Higher ways, while the left our Boarders open to the executives’ smugglers, this is self induced economic sabotage by our custom’s men.

A lot have been said about Nigeria customs, how most they enrich themselves through illegal ways of collecting and arresting innocent ‘Yan Kasuwan” Kano as smugglers when they come to buy Rice in Kano Market. The custom usually respond that the Federal government has band the importation of rice or  these goods are contraband and it’s illegal to sale in Kano, while they have allowed it into Nigeria market free of charge.

This rice, that Nigeria customs marked them as contraband are local rice that were process within Kano because of the increasing in the rice miller in the state and sold at Singer market, but they would block our highway until you pay certain amount of duty before they would allow you to pass with this so call contrabands, investigate show that a small car loaded with Rice marketer has to pay N20, 000 before he would allow to pass.

With all this illegal activities of Federal operation unit of Nigerian Custom and the activist of CG task force are crippling Kano Market and facing series of underdeveloped, because people from other state are boycotting Kano market due to the harassment the face from this government agent.

The popular Singer Market that once made name can now be found with empty as most business men relocated the activist to Abuja and Lagos because most custom officer made them to pay high fess in goods they consider as contraband by the own definition.

Under-developing Kano is another form of economic satabotage by Nigerian Custom, which I wish the comptroller-General Abdullahi Inde would look into this issue and call his men and officers to order.
