Principal of Government Girls Secondary School Chibok, Asabe Kwambura, says the actual figure of missing girls following the abduction a week ago, of scores of the school’s students by terrorists, stands at 273.

She said initial figures only reflected the number of students who sat for exams on the day of the abduction, and did not represent the entire number of missing students.

“But we have so far been able to find 43 girls, leaving 230 girls presently missing,” Kwambura told the newsmen

She said Parents had told the governor Jason Shettima of Borno state during his visit to the school that 234 of their girls were still missing since Boko Haram terrorists attacked the school last week, but the principal said four more girls were found shortly before the arrival of the governor which then put the number of missing students at 230.

“The number of girls so far found is 43. I have already handed over these 43 girls to their parents.

“The initial figure of 129 I gave was of those that sat for exams on the day of the abduction. The total number of boarding students is 405; this means that out of 405, 230 are still missing.

“But the other issue is that out of the 230 missing girls, some had run home to meet their parents and we have not received any information on them,” Kwambura said.
