The All Progressives Congress, APC, ward congresses in Edo State snowballed into violence as suspected party thugs invaded and razed the country home of the party’s senatorial aspirant, Mr. Theophilus Okoh in Ibori, Esan Central Local Government Area.

The thugs, who were said to have stormed the home of the APC chieftain at 2.30a.m. in a white Hilux bus and a Jeep were said to be on a reprisal attack, following their defeat at the congress, just as it was learnt that initial attempts to disrupt the congress was resisted by the people.

An eyewitness and the ward party leader, Ololo Okoeki, described the party congress in the ward as free, adding that he had earlier received a life-threatening phone call few minutes before the attack.
