Kidnappers of a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Port Harcourt City local government area of Rivers State, Mr Dicken Worlu have demanded N30million ransom for his release.

Mr Dicken Worlu was kidnapped about a week ago at his residence along Ojike Street, Mile One axis of Diobu, a densely populated area of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Wife of the kidnapped PDP chieftain, Mrs Patricia Worlu, who disclosed this when members of the National Association of Sea-Dogs (NAS), also known as Pirates Fraternity, paid her a sympathy visit, said the family had been praying for the safe and unconditional release of her husband.

While appealing to the kidnappers to have pity on the family and release the husband, Mrs Worlu said the family had not been the same since the sad incident.

She said, “We don’t have the money. Where will the money come from? We are begging that they release my husband unconditionally.”

Earlier, leader of the NAS delegation, Professor Temi Akporhonor, lamented the state of insecurity in the country, urging the Rivers State government and the security agencies to take practical steps to secure the unconditional release of the hostage.

Akporhonor, who described the kidnapped PDP chieftain as a personal friend, said it was sad that some criminal elements were trying to reduce the nation to a jungle, and advised the wife of Worlu and other family members to be strong, assuring that the security agencies and government would work to secure release of the head of the family.
