A group, Concerned Youths of Abia South has said that Chief Chris Nkwonta remains the best choice to represent the zone at the Senate in 2015.
Coordinator of the group, Mr. Chinedu Nwogu who stated this at the end of the group’s general meeting in Aba, Abia state at the weekend, disclosed they assessed all the aspirants who are known to be interested in the seat from the six local government areas of the zone and found Nkwonta the best.
According to him, “We have assessed all aspirants to the Abia South Senate, some of who have been in power since eight years ago, and discovered that Chief Chris Nkwonta is the best choice to represent the zone in 2015. He has made great contributions to the success of the PDP in the zone, trains over 150 students annually in his scholarship programme for indigent students as well as assistance to the less privileged of the society.
“We feel that having done so much for the people as a private person; he will do more to empower the people if elected into public office as a Senator in 2015. We believe Chief Chris Nkwonta been doing very well. He is eminently qualified to take the Abia South Senatorial seat and we are supporting him to replace the Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe in 2015,” Nwogu said.
He charged the people of the zone not to be deceived by the antics of some of the aspirants to the senate seat who have been in power since the return of democracy in 1999 without anything to show for it.
Nwogu disclosed that the group would be ready to partner with any organization towards ensuring that credible candidates are elected to represent the people in 2015.
Recall that several groups have been calling on Nkwonta who hails from Akwete in Ukwa East council area to declare his interest for the Abia South senate position.
