Imo State Governor, His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has directed for the immediate suspension of a female commissioner in the state, Mrs. Nma Onyechere, who was in charge of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
The governor also suspended the Transition Committee Chairman of Oguta Local Government, Chief Henry Igbomezie. Chief Igbomezie has also been replaced by Dr. Louis Obodo as the new chairman for the Transition Committee of the Local Government.
On the suspension of the commissioner, Mrs. Onyechere, the decision to suspend her was taken at the Executive Council meeting held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014.
The Commissioner for Education (Primary/Secondary), Dr. Mrs. Uche Ejiogu has also been directed to oversee the affairs of the ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development till further notice.
The suspension of the duo was in the best interest of the administration and the people of the state in general.
