Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state has described the two National Assembly members from Nasarawa state elected under the platform of the All Progressives Change that defected to the opposition political party in the state, The People’s Democratic Party as self-seeking politicians .
The Governor stated this while addressing mammoth APC contenders vying for chairmanship and councillorship positions ahead of march,22 council poll,Al-Makura said absence of prudent management of public fund, social justice ,equality of opportunity ,irresponsible ,disposition and misdemeanor ,Indiscipline as the features of PDP.
APC was a party that was formed with an aim of catering for the downtrodden whom were sidelined from the basic needs of livelihood, “we know the decampees ,They are PDP/APC,They are people that did not care about their constituency instead the care about their pockets.
“We in the APC are aware that one of them was given N15m to defect to the PDP,It is electorate that determine the success of APC not an individual ,The decamping of Dr.Haruna Kigbu member representing Lafia-Obi Federal constituency (APC) )and Hon. Member David Embugadu representing Nasarawa,Akwanga and Nasarawa Eggon will not hinder the success of our party.
Speaking on the widely speculation making round that the Governor had anointed aspirants, The Governor said he did not endorse candidate on the electorate, calling on people of the state to disregard that as grapevine.”aspirants should go to all nook and cranny to converse for votes”.said Al-Makura.
Al-Makura affirmed that internal democracy has come to stay in the APC,”party heavyweight and aspirants will go for consensus and if that option didn’t work we will go by option A4,which is going for congress.
Calling on party supporter to abide by party and Nasiec guideline, He also warned political appointees ranging from commissioners to put the interest of the people above personal interest.
The Governor thank APC loyalist in the state for conducting themselves during the recent membership registration ,He also commended party supporter for exhibiting true support and resilience,calling on members to adhered strictly to party constitution.
The state interim chairman of the party,Stanley Buba commended party faithful for conducting themselves in the recent membership card registration in the state ,appealing to supporters to shun violence ahead of the forthcoming Local Government election.
Buba said democracy is about dialogue not fighting,He in addition averred that APC is operating modern democracy devoid of ballot box snatching and electoral fraud,The chairman full of hope opined that the APC will crush the opposition party,The PDP in the forthcoming council poll.
